Cynthia Abigail Fernandez was killed by a suspected drunk driver who fled the scene. Cynthia's 9-year-old daughter also perished in the crash. Gerad Sandate was later arrested for intoxication manslaughter. According to DPS, Sandate ran a red light at U.S. 385 and FM 1787 hitting Fernandez' vehicle. Sandate remains in Ector County jail.
