A crash on Highway 69 killed Moises Joribio from Mineola. A man from Quitman was arrested for intoxication manslaughter.
On September 16, 2023, a crash occurred on Highway 69 near Mineola. The crash killed local resident Moises Joribio and injured his passenger Jesus Beltran. A Quitman resident, Maxwell Hunter Lee, was arrested for intoxication manslaughter. The Department of Public Safety investigated the crash and arrested Lee who was booked into the Wood County jail but later released on $100,000.00 bond.
